What's the best...?

song that's kind of the 'we broke up but I'm so over you' song? I think it's "Red Rubber Ball" (originally by Paul Simon of Simon & Garfunkel, but recorded first by The Cyrkle):
http://play.rhapsody.com/thecyrkle/redru…

I should have known you'd bid me farewell
There's a lesson to be learned from this and I learned it very well
Now, I know you're not the only starfish in the sea
If I never hear your name again, it's all the same to me

And I think it's gonna be alright
Yeah, the worst is over now
The mornin' sun is shinin' like a red rubber ball

You never care for secrets I confide
For you, I'm just an ornament, somethin' for your pride
Always runnin', never carin', that's the life you live
Stolen minutes of your time were all you had to give

And I think it's gonna be alright
Yeah, the worst is over now
The mornin' sun is shinin' like a red rubber ball
(continued)

Additional Details

The story's in the past with nothin' to recall
I've got my life to live and I don't need you at all
The roller-coaster ride we took is nearly at an end
I bought my ticket with my tears, that's all I'm gonna spend

And I think it's gonna be alright
Yeah, the worst is over now
The mornin' sun is shinin' like a red rubber ball

Oh, I think it's gonna be alright
Yeah, the worst is over now
The mornin' sun is shinin' like a red rubber ball

Answer :
'I will survive' by Gloria Gaynor.
Some of the lyrics say:

It took all the strength I had
not to fall apart
kept trying hard to mend
the pieces of my broken heart
and I spent oh so many nights
just feeling sorry for myself
I used to cry
Now I hold my head up high
and you see me
somebody new
I'm not that chained up little person
still in love with you
and so you felt like dropping in
and just expect me to be free
now I'm saving all my loving
for someone who's loving me

Is there someone who I can talk to over the computer to tell me more about the Rhapsody of The Seas?

I am going on the RCCL Rhapsody Of The Seas but I really need to talk to someone about dinning menus and kid-teen programs...help is needed.

Answer :
I would contact your travel agent, they will be able to give you all the information you need regarding this cruise. If you booked it yourself you should be able to call RCCL directly for more help. The number is: (866) 562-7625

The website for RCCL is, you can find just about everything you need there.

http://www.royalcaribbean.com/home.do;js…

You could also request a brochure to find more information.

Hope this helps.

Have a good trip!

Answer :
See your travel agent and be sure to get Royal Carribean's cruise brochure. It will help you with lots of things including packing dining etc.

You will order your meals off a menu every night. There are lots of childrens activities. Something for all ages. One tip - if you have teenagers and they drink cokes buy them a "coke sticker". It costs about $20 but it is good for the entire cruise. If they order them singly - even at dinner they are $1.75 each.

Going to Cozumel on a cruise.I would like do the Tulum Mayan Ruins excursion. Any suggestions I need to know?

I will be cruising with ROYAL CARIBBEAN cruise line in Sept. 2006 on the Rhapsody of the Seas cruise ship. We have not reserved any excursions yet...and really need to know if that is the best thing to do or just wait till we get on board. Also what type of bus was used to get to the ruins..with A/C or what? How long will it take to drive in the bus to the ruins? How long is the tour itself? Since our ship has to boat us to shore...how long does it take? Any other comments on this ship/cruise and tour of the ruins would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! MonaK

Answer :
It's REALLY REALLY REALLY hot at Tulum. Did I say it was hot? I went in late September and I thought I was going to melt. I saw people with umbrellas as I was getting off the bus and I wondered why. Within fifteen minutes I would have strangled someone for an umbrella.
I don't know how long RC gives you--I went through Carnival. I don't remember how long the tender ride was from the boat to the dock. The bus ride was about an hour each way. We stopped at a gift shop on the way there. The bus was air-conditioned. We had an hour or so at the ruins proper and then took the tram to the nearby complex of shops (near the parking lot). They had some people in native dress you could photograph, and also that day they had men jumping off a pole and flying (very cool).
There's a lovely little beach there--I didn't have time to go into the water, but it's beautiful. After the bus returned us to the dock, the tender then took us to Cozumel where the boat was waiting which was a longer ride.
Personally, I was disappointed in Tulum. It's very small, there's no real pyramid, you can't go into any of the buildings. It's interesting historically because it was inhabited when the Spanish arrived. It's decadent Mayan architecture, and not what I expected. Unfortunately Carnival only offers trips to Chichen Itza on the very short cruises which don't do the rest of the Caribbean--that's what you really want to go to if given the choice.
If you have time to go around Cozumel as well, go to Chankanaab Park. Snorkeling, swim with dolphins, and a lovely (hot) walk through a jungle filled with life-size reproductions of pre-Columbian artifacts including the Sun Stone, the moon stone, and more. There are some pictures on my web site of the park (been there 2x) under the heading of "fun".
If you want more details, contact me through IM or my 360 page or my web site.

Answer :
When i went to Tulum I didn't get there through Royal Caribbean but I can tell you that you should really go. It is a very beautiful site with some of the best beaches I have ever seen. I got there from Cancun on a shuttle bus that was very comfortable with A/C and lavatory. The beach is very clean and the ocean is clear. You will get to see some ruins and explore among the places where the Mayas resided. Again... I HIGHLY recomend you take this excursion. There is beautiful wildlife (mostly iguanas and small friendly reptiles) and the ocean shores is full of colorful fish and coral. Have fun!

Answer :
My experience with the Tulum ruins tour was that it wasn't really a tour at all. The air conditioned bus drops you off, you walk into the site, it's beautifull and you can lay your hands on it and the beach is prestine. You can't climb the temples though (at least you couldn't when I was there 3 yrs ago). Bring water or gatorade as it gets muggy there and gatorade is expensive at the shops. And then the bus picks you up again later.

Here's a link for you.

Answer :
is cozumel even there anymore? when i was down there last it was in hurricane wilma and the ocean met the lagoon and pretty much destroyed cozumel. that ***** wilma ruined my vacation. anyway we didn't get a chance to visit the tulum ruins but we did see chichen itza. tulum i think is a 3 or 4 hour bus ride(with the time for the boat taking you to shore). plus you spend a few hours at the ruins so it's definitely an all day thing. they use the really nice big tour buses like we have hear. a/c and all but the tour guide is talking a lot of the time. oh yeah they also generally stop for a meal on the way back but i suggest you take a small bag with water and food. if you have anymore questions email me.

Answer :
Ive been there and im 9! dont say it is your first time? bring a one piece bathing suit. I didnt and got stung by a jellyfish and went to the er.OUCH!!!

Answer :
There is about 100 km from Cancun, I don't know from Cozumel.
We spend just a half day in Tulum and I'd like to spend the other half on the beautiful beach they have there, but we have been to Xel Ha and have a wonderful snorkeling experience.
Very nice place, good guides, a lot of walking and plenty of iguanas.
Time - January 05
I encourage you to go and visit. Seems like Chicken Itza ruins is a lot more interesting but never been there.
Good luck

Anybody have luck? What is the ante on Carribean Stud? Video Poker? Any Texas Hold'em games? Any info. would be appreciated.

Yes. You can smoke. The table games usually have a $5.00 minimum. There was Texas Hold'em on the Jewel of the Seas when I was there in February but there was always a long waiting list to sit down at the table.

Read this poem tell me what do you think? poem written by sri sri a great Telugu poet?

Sri Sri translated most of his poems from Mahaprasthanam in English . To start off, this new feature I am starting as usual with his favorite poem "Kavita-O-Kavita".

TO POESY - A RHAPSODY

Poesy O poesy
It was long long ago
It was once upon a time
I was young I was green
There was nothing to be seen
The fragrance of my hope
Clung to me like a robe
So long long ago
At once upon a time
Where were you then
Ask the far horizon
In my hope in my dream
I thought I saw your crepuscular car
How beatiful you were
How beyond my reach
Far beyond my gaze
In the days long agone
My life I loafed alone
Dedicated consecrated
To you to you to you
My life I laughed away
Seeking seeking seeking
I almost forgot
What it was sought
The intoxicated moments
Were an endless torment
And I knew not
Which was which what was what
This five-fingered magic was it you
This imitation of inspiration
This decor or rhetoric
This sylogistic illogic was it you
I knew not then
And what was your form
What sybaritic grace what wingcommanding norm
Dulcet halcyon
Eohippus celestial griffon
I knew it wasn't you
I rotted in my room
I waited in the gloom
Alive alone alone
Those days long agone
That onced upon my time
And as I chimed Drenched in the downpour of my dream
Always expectant
By my discipline putrified
By my determination petrified
With many a fiery sonata
In my medulla oblongata
Pleading Oh when Oh when
Shall the gates of creation open
As thus I waited
With my breath bated
What shouts what hetaerea what chimaerae
What parallelograms of emotions
What ultramarine exultation
What trinitrotoluene of exultation
Bursting on my head
Thud thud thud thud
How did my song come to life
What was it I had seen
Was it the midnight sky rending
The very heaven descending
In a perpetual perpendicular of rain
Blowing conch blasting drum
In the ocean's skyscraping storm
I heard that very night
In the forests intricate
Metreless but not meaningless
The noises and voices of hunger and sex
Of wild animals Leo the rex roaring
Growling tiger prowling jackal howling
And too I heard
The music of the spheres
The symphony of orchestra of the stars
The earthquake's ultimatum
Empires crumbling
Governments tumbling down
And I heard the reverberating conflagrations
Of wars and revolutions
There you are
Always everywhere
Immediate as here
Instantaneous as now
And how
Could I enumerate
All that I saw that I heard
As I thought of you
How could I construe
In so many words
All the sounds all the visions
Conjured up by my contemplation of your presence
Refulgent diamond
Flowering in a lake of fire
Ferric falcon flying
Bells of fever pealing
In the cannon's mouth of deafening choir
And more and more and more
The sights and sound galore
I saw the maternity ward the midnight birth
A young mother hugging her newborn babe
I heard her dreams describing
Honeysweet vortices in her mind
I heard the sleeping baby
Sing the singsong dingdong memories of its past
And then the vast
Magnified closeup of the patient chloroformed
In a twilight of life and death
I heard his nervestrings thrum
His blood vessels hum
And I saw the drunken bum
Immobilized in the gutter
I heard his confused shutter
Complaining to the dogs
Explaining to the stars
In incomprehensive rigmaroles
The deep sea wisdom of his inner soul
Again I heard I heard I heard again
The strained refrain of stridnet pain
Welling in the eyelids half-closed
Of the metropolitan prostitute locked in the act
Of the carnal diablerie
Trading love's counterfeit zeal
For a fee that buys her meal
I also heard

Answer :
really it is one of the beautiful poems of modern Telugu literature. even viswanatha satyanarayana, a reactionary poet lauded it and embraced sri sri.when he heard that poem.

Answer :
"And more and more and more
The sights and sound galore..."

Jaysus!! It's rubbish. Pure doggerel, full of cliches & bad rhymes, scarcely intelligible.

Hit me baby one more time....The Love Rhapsody.?

I stuff my love note for her into a glass bottle and let it float on the sea to where fate deems it....at the other side of the world an equally lonely girl picks up the glass bottle and witnessed my lonely affections...she's tempted.

I accidentally knocked down a guy and it was hit-and-run for me. Few years later,I met a girl via her daughter and we fell in love. However,I soon found out she was the spouse of the man I knocked down and she has become a widow since. I've sinned.

I was set up in a fraud case and sentenced to death. My wife was heartbroken. However,my soul didn't rest in peace, hence my spirit remained on Earth . One day,my spirit returned to our house, where memories of us being passionately in love lingered. My wife heard my wish to find the real person who set me up and we both embarked on a journey together of finding the sinner. I've had justice.

Which story appeals to you the most? Be honest...is my love rhapsody good?

Answer :
uh, stalk me baby one more time or beat me baby one more time

Answer :
This is 2006 going on 07'... Haven't you heard? Love doesn't happen anymore. Love doesn't sell. It's sex and violence that sells now. Cross out the love part and put "Spectacular Rodgering" or "pop a cap in her ***" and you'll sell millons. It's sad, I know. I wish it weren't true.. but unfortunately it is. That's why I don't write. I paint! No one ever knows what the hell you mean when it's in visual form. You have to spell things out for people. The critics say they can "see what your trying to convey" ... bullshit. lol. Become an artist.. it doesn't pay much.. ok.. it pays nothing. But still... you can paint about whatever you want and people will still look at it. Even love.

Salutations,
The Nouveau Bohemian

Answer :
Are you looking just for HITS? Because, honestly, the Eagles' "The Last Resort" blew "Hotel California" out of the water as far as quality of song goes -- but it wasn't ever a "hit."

Good luck on the project, that's quite ambitious!

EDIT: thanks for the answer.

1947: "Cool Water" - Sons of the Pioneers
1951: "It's All in the Game" - Tommy Edwards (also works for 1958)
1960: "Only the Lonely" - Roy Orbison
1969: "Up on Cripple Creek" - the Band or "Loan Me a Dime" by Boz Scaggs (a lot of people consider this Duane Allman's greatest guitar work ever)
1972: "Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters" - Elton John
1981: "Tempted" - Squeeze
1983: "Everyday I Write the Book" - Elvis Costello
1984: "The Boys of Summer" - Don Henley
1985: "Road to Nowhere" - Talking Heads
1986: "She's a Runaway" - BoDeans

Answer :

Answer :
1997 was a great year. One of my favorites actually. All that is a lot to take in, but I'll throw out a couple suggestions for the gaps I noticed, and suggest that in my opinion Paul Simon's the Boy in the Bubble was the track of 1986.

97, some highlights (and I'll try to keep it mostly on the radar):
Blur - Beetlebum (though most would say Song 2 from that record)
Built to Spill - I Would Hurt a Fly
Elliott Smith - Angeles
Pavement - Transport is Arranged (more might say Shady Lane though)
Radiohead - Paranoid Android
Folk Implosion - Insinuation

2005:
Mars Volta - the Widow
Sufjan Stevens - Jacksonville
(hmm, 2005 is kind of tough. not a bad year, but not a ton of songs specifically that jump out)

I guess I would also suggest
2001 - the Shins - Caring is Creepy (or perhaps New Slang)

Answer :
This is an amazing list you have going on here. It has pretty much all the coolest songs of the century. The only thing I have a disagreement with is for 2008. I love rock n roll train but there is no way it should be picked to represent that year. I think:

2008 - "I'm Yours" Jason Mraz

Answer :
At least this list recognizes the best song of '75 is Kashmir and this song is the best song of the past 100 years

Answer :
2005 has to be Holiday by Green Day
1991 Needs to be Even Flow by Pearl Jam

other than that everything is good

Answer :
mad props for Rock n roll Train, but the winner of 2008 is (unfortunately) Viva La Vida.

also 1997-Bittersweet Symphony or Everlong (perhaps)

Answer :
You arent using any of the answers I gave you a while ago.

One by Metallica would be 1988

Royal Carribean Rhapsody of the seas?

We are going on a cruise through Royal Carribean on Rhapsody of the seas! I was just wondering what it was like? I have been on one other cruise through Carnival and loved it. Is the rock wall on the boat free, or is there an added cost for it? What other kinds of activities are there? Is the boat really nice, and how are the shows? Just any general information you have I would like to read, but I really want to know if there is an extra cost for the rock wall?

Answer :
There's no extra charge for the rock wall. Here's the Roll Call from Rhapsody is you want to meet other cruisers that are going on the same trip you are as well as a link for reviews about Rhapsody. I hope you can get some answers to your questions. Bon Voyage!!

How old do you have to be to use the rock wall on royal caribbean Rhapsody of the seas?

How old do you have to be to use the rock wall on royal caribbean Rhapsody of the seas?

Answer :

Whether it's your first time on a rock wall or if you're a seasoned climber, there are challenges for all levels of experience. We'll provide all of the equipment, including shoes, helmets and harnesses. All you need to do is bring a pair of socks and, of course, your sense of adventure.

For beginners, we offer one-on-one instruction by appointment at no charge, as well as beginner climbing sessions. For those who are more experienced, there are advanced climbing sessions, speed-climbing competitions and for teens, teen tournaments.

Rock climbing is free for all guests and reservations aren't necessary; just check your Cruise Compass and Daily Planner for hours. While rock climbing can be fun for kids and adults, (*Climbers must be 6 years of age or older and minors must be accompanied by an adult.*) We also ask each climber to sign a waiver.

Answer :
I don't know the minimum age but both my daughters climbed the rock Wall on the Rhapsody two years ago at ages 8 and 10.

They have small shoes and helmets on hand.

My girls were really jazzed about climbing the rock wall because of all of the commercials.

But once there, the experience was tough for them because the wind was blowing hard and the rock wall is at the back of the ship. They only climbed it once.

They have great assistants on the ground to help you climb up.

Answer :
i think it is more of a height requirement...but young kids did climb like 7 - 8 yrs old......also if you are talking real young....some of the ships have a mini wall in the kids club...the voyager of the seas did

Royal Caribbean's Rhapsody of the Seas?

i would like to know anyone's opinion or experience on the ship, Rhapsody of the Seas. It is from Royal Carribean. i knw its one of the older ships, but how is its facilities and staterooms! Any review will help!!! Thanks in advance

Answer :
Rhapsody, even though it is older, is still a very nice ship and in pretty good shape considering. The main thing that isn't so great because of it's age is it doesn't offer as many of the onboard activities as some fo the newer ships do, Freedom of the Seas, for example. But it still offers a lot, you get your regular pool and clubs as well as a small putt-putt course and a rock climbing wall.

Dining is okay, probably on par with other Royal Caribbean ships. My only main complaint about the dining is that they don't offer any of their premium restaurants (Jade or Portofino) on this ship. Also, they don't have Johnny Rockets or Ben and Jerry's. Other than that not much to complain about.

Otherwise, I would say the ship is pretty nice. It is smaller because of it's age, but it is kind of nice being on a smaller ship. It is a little more intimate, easy to get around, etc.

I had been hearing recently that Rhapsody needed some updates because she was becomming a little worn with her age. But, they just put her into a 10 day dry-dock to do some renovations. I haven't heard the exacts, but I have heard that they are going to be updating quite a bit. So hopefully that will get her back into tip-top shape.

I have found the people onboard Rhapsody to be fantastic. You will find that a lot of the people onboard are very freindly, mostly Texans. I always find it is a real hoot to be around them. I do agree with the other answer, average age is a little higher on Rhapsody than most other Royal Caribbean ships. I've never met anyone I didn't like onboard her though, I think that all the passengers are great and a lot of them are almost as entertaining as the shows. I've also found the crew to be very friendly on my few cruises on Rhapsody.

Plus, the price of Rhapsody cannot be beat. You get the nice Royal Caribbean experience at Carnival prices, sometimes lower. So a lot of people frequent Rhapsody just for this reason.

If you haven't already been there, I've included a link to a really great site with lots of reviews and info, also a message board.

Hope this has helped answer your questions!

Answer :
We sailed the Rhapsody of the Seas in 2005.

As a frequent cruiser, I was dissapointed.

The cabin steward in my Mother's cabin was the worst I have ever experienced in 18 years of cruising. This is the first cruise that I ever failed to tip a cabin steward. Some days, the room was never made up. There was never any ice or daily newsletters.

There was constant plumbing problems on the trip. Many of the public restrooms had to be closed and the toilets in the cabins were often clogged up.

The pool was also often closed.

Our family are not alcohol drinkers so we purchased the Soda Fountain program. Because the bartenders don't get the 15% gratutity for serving soda, they served every other person at the bar before us even if we were there first.

There was often no tea or lemonade in the Windjammer during meal times. Ice cream machine was often broken.

Don't let them talk you into purchasing the "shopping booklet". It is a waste of money.

Yes, the RoS is showing her age and gets the least experienced staff.

Is is just an "OK" cruise.

Answer :
Sailed on it a year ago. Had a blast! It's a little smaller than a lot of the other ships, but crew, staff, and food were excellent.
The staterooms were not bad, like small hotel rooms, but hey, you don't spend much time in them anyway.
The pool area was being renovated at the time of my trip and it looked like it was going to be updated. The rockwall was fun.
When I went it, there were a lot of couples, mostly older, either retired or close to retirement, I think I was 34 and felt like I was not in the crowds on the ship. A lot of honeymooners too.

RC's Rhapsody of the Seas renovation, drydock?

Can anyone tell me anything about Rhapsody of the Sea's upcoming renovation and when?

Answer :
Rhapsody started a 9 day drydock on February 10th, so she should be finished now.

I don't know the exacts of what they are doing, but this is what I heard.

1). Cleaning up carpets, rooms, etc. extensively
2). Possibly changing the cast of the shows
3). Possibly changing the shows around somewhat
4). Making some changes at Windjammers.

If you call Royal Caribbean they can give you info on all the drydocks and what they did in the last one.

Answer :
THe renovation will probably happen between Sep 28th and October 10th. Don't know details of the dry dock.

Answer :
You best bet would be to call the cruise line. I know this is prob not the answer you were looking for, but since you had no answers I wanted to lend you something. Dry Docks are scheduled, at times, years in advance. The cruise line should know when and what is being done at that time.

Would you choose the Carnival Conquest, Rhapsody of the Seas, or the Grand Princess cruise ship?

I am currently planning a cruise, and have narrowed my choices to the above three ships. I would like information on what activites there are for teens. I would like information on what activites and public facilities there are on the ships. Please give past accounts of cruise vacations and/or any information you have about these ships!

Answer :
We have been on the Rhaposody and the Conquest with a pre-teen and a teen.

Overall, the Rhaposody is not in as good shape as the Conquest.

The plumbing on the Rhaposody is in bad shape and most of the public restrooms were stopped up during our cruise.

One of the cabin stewards was so bad, that I refused to tip her. I have never failed to tip a cruise service person is 18-years of cruising.

The ice cream machines were constantly breaking down and the bar service to get sodas was extremely poor.

The Rhaposody does have rock climbing. But the course is at the back of the ship and it is very windy. My girls only did it once.

My girls loved the Conquest. They danced at the teen disco, enjoyed the pool and running around on the ship.

The girls LOVE the 24-hour a day pizzeria on the Conquest.

Recommendation on cruising with teens. Get a set of the 2-way radios to keep in touch while you are on-board ship.

If you chose the Conquest, get the Soda Fountain cards. With teens, they pay for themselves within day 2 of the trip.

The only downside to the Conquest is the itinerary. You are out to sea for Monday and Tuesday. The kids start getting bored on Tuesday. Then you hit Jamacia, Grand Cayman and Cozumel the next three days and last day you are out to sea.

From a motion standpoint, the Rhaposody was much rougher than the Conquest.

We won't take the Rhaposody again but we are going to take the Conquest again.

Answer :
I have been on the Grand Princess and its sister ship and I highly recommend it. Princess is a much better cruise line than Carnival and you will have better food and accommodations.

Answer :
I have been on the Grand Princess which is a great ship to travel on. Have not been on the Carnival Conquest but have been on two prior Carnival Cruises which I was not a fan of. Princess is by far better and nicer and the Grand has a number of things to do for teens and would recommend you visit the Princess web site. Have never chosen to cruise with Royal

Answer :
I have taken both Rhapsody of the Seas and Grand Princess and would recommend Grand Princess over Rhapsody. The Grand has four pools and movies under the stars. The best part is the anytime dining. You won't be eating with a bunch of people you don't know for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Again this is just my opinion but I much preferred the Grand over Rhapsody.

Also, I wonder if you are planning to travel out of Galveston. You might note that Grand Princess is not scheduled to return to Galveston next year so taking the Grand will involve a flight to Fort Lauderdale.

Have you cruised on Royal Caribbean's "Rhapsody of The Seas"? How was it?

We are leaving Sunday out of Galveston, Texas for Montego Bay, Jamaica(Kayaking) then to Grand Cayman (Stingray City) Then to Cozumel (Xel-Ha Snorkleing) Any tips? Advice? Reviews?

Thanks!

Answer :
We went snorkeling in Cayman islands and in Cozumel. Cayman islands was by far much prettier. Not familiar with your ship however went to all three of your ports of call and had a fantastic time. Dunn's river falls in Jamaica was fun.

Answer :
well i have work for royal caribbean for 12 years and i have worked on all of the ships and they are great.i was a chef on the ship and i must say the food is supper great and the ship it self you will have a great time and remember to take lots of pic .and most important have fun

What's the best...?

What's the best song that's kind of the 'we broke up but I'm so over you' song?

(continued)

The story's in the past with nothin' to recall
I've got my life to live and I don't need you at all
The roller-coaster ride we took is nearly at an end
I bought my ticket with my tears, that's all I'm gonna spend

And I think it's gonna be alright
Yeah, the worst is over now
The mornin' sun is shinin' like a red rubber ball

Oh, I think it's gonna be alright
Yeah, the worst is over now

Answer :
no i havent but i found this great review:

Royal Caribbean International
Rhapsody of the Seas Cruise Review
Western Caribbean

Jennifer McConahey
Age: 36
Occupation: Account Rep.
Number of Cruises: 2
Sailing Date: August 19th, 2007

This was the 2nd cruise for me and my husband, but the 1st with our children (Girl age 10 and Boy age 7). We had a fabulous time. Oh – where to start.

Departed from Galveston. Very smooth. No problems at all. We parked at the Easy parking lot (cheapest and most convenient around). We got there about 2 hours earlier than they said to but they were already letting people onboard. The entire process took about 30 minutes. We had had lunch in the Windjammer and the kids were swimming before we were even supposed to be allowed on the ship.

Room – we had an inside cabin on deck 7. There were some benefits to being on deck 7 such as we hardly ever had to take the elevator. We were only one floor up or one floor down from almost everything (restaurants, pool, shows, etc.) I have heard people on decks 2-4 spent a lot of time waiting on elevators. But the downside was we were way too close to a late night club on deck 6. We heard the music every night until about 12:30 when they shut down. We typically didn’t come to bed ourselves until 11 – 12 so it wasn’t that huge of a deal but for those who go to sleep early – I can see it would be an issue. Next time I would stay on deck 7 or 8 again, but make sure we are further away from the clubs. The room it’s self was spacious enough and the kids loved seeing what animal the hand towels would be made into each evening.

Food – Windjammer was good. Some things better than other but it seems that by the end of the week it kind of all started to taste the same. We ate every breakfast but one there and all lunches when we were not in ports. Lots to choose from and it was pretty good. The food in the main dining room was great. Had a beautiful table right by a window and nice people at our table. We enjoyed it a lot but think one formal night would be enough. We did try out the dining room for breakfast one time and felt that the food was about the same as you would get from the Windjammer (they have awesome omelets).

Entertainment – We thought the shows were very good. Some better than others but there was not one time when I thought I wasted my time by going. The cruise director Eric was very funny and we enjoyed him. The singers and dancers did well (except the male singers on country night – not good) but overall, they were all good.

Kids Club - My seven year old son LOVED it. He loved all games and was so proud of the bronze medal he won at dodge ball. He wanted to wear it every time he went back. The only complaint I have about it was that they would try and get them all excited while the parents were at the show to stay for the late night session (which is $5.00 an hour). Doesn’t seem like a lot but it’s up to 3 hours a night for a week – just so they can keep playing. Made you feel like a heel to say no when the staff works to hard to convince them how fun it will be if they stay and tells them all the cool things they would miss if there were not there. Anyway – my son ended up staying for at least 1 – 2 hours 4 or 5 of the nights. My ten year old daughter was not quite as impressed as my son, but there were parts she liked. We signed her up for self checkout which made her feel quite grown up. I was nervous about it a little at 1st – but every kid in the 9-11 age groups did it and there were no issues. It was good because she met some girls the 1st few days in the kid’s area and was able to play with them all week. She would just check the schedule each night and go to the things she wanted to. For example – she loved all the scavenger hunts.

Complaints - I don’t have too many, but nothing is perfect.
1. BINGO – way too expensive. Granted they had good prizes (free cruise, room upgrade, etc.) but for $50 a person each time. They need to offer more family type bingo sessions. Smaller prizes would be fine, but make it so families can play together. My kids were excited to play before we go on board and when we showed up for the 1st session and found out how much it cost we were all disappointed. We left and never did play.

2. Pictures – also expensive. Again – granted there for the most part did a good job, I just feel that $16.95 - $19.95 per picture is so high. You can choose not to purchase them, which we did for the most part – but if they lowered the price some I know we would have bought more.

3. Room – mentioned above (too close to the late night club).

4. Kid’s area – mentioned above (pushing the kids to stay for the late night time then charging $5.00 an hour to do).

Ports –

1. We were supposed to go to Jamaica. Due to Hurricane Dean we went to Key West instead. Now I had everything planned for Jamaica and no idea what to do in Key West. We thought we would just walk around and take it easy, maybe do some shopping. It was so HOT that we were miserable. There was a cool butterfly deal that we walked through – kids loved it. But other than that it was just HOT. If I had it to do over we would have rented one of the golf cart/car deals they had and seen a lot more of the area. We missing the Hemingway House and most Southern Point of the US which would have been cool – but we didn’t even know to look for them until after we were back on board. Since it was so last minute of a change you just really didn’t have the chance to research it.

2. Cayman Islands. This was the one we were looking most forward to and it was a great time. We booked a snorkel / sting ray swim excursion through Captain Marvin’s and it was great. Very smooth and our boat was much less crowded than those that the people who booked through the cruise was. We also added on the Turtle Farm visit and that was my son’s favorite part of the entire cruise.

3. Cozumel. This turned out to be the best port of all. After what we went through in Key West when we go off the ship they had motor bikes for rental. $50.00 each for the day. We got 2 of them and had so much fun. We drove ourselves to Paradise beach and the kids had a blast. They have huge trampolines and rock walls that the kids can climb in the ocean. My daughter got her hair braided and we had a great time. Then we motor biked to some shops downtown and found some great deals. SO MUCH FUN!!!!

Over all, this cruise was awesome. Would recommend 95%.

I am going on Royal Caribbean Rhapsody of the Seas to Alaska.?

I am 23 and was wondering what kind of crowd will it be? I was wondering if it will be somewhat of a party cruise.

Answer :
Not to Alaska.

Royal Caribbean Alaska voyages are generally an older average age, late 50's-early 60's probably.

You have your younger people, but Alaska isn't a big party destination. People go there for the scenery and wildlife.

If you are looking for a party cruise, Carnival, short Bahamas cruise, 3-4 night.

Answer :
You need more Simon & Garfunkel. Also, how about Peter, Paul and Mary's "One tin soldier".

You might try checking pandora radio. You put in the name of a band you like and they play a variety of songs from that group and others that are similar. This can help you find new music you like.

Answer :
We're pretty similar xD

Rpattz music is alright, lots of imogen heap, sorry if you've already heard these xD But the moment i said it by imogen heap is probably my favourite song.. ever. Maybe even try the instrumentals from Memoirs of a Geisha like the Chairmans Waltz. Hummmm.. Crap im totally blank right now, sorry >.<

edit: apparently the Mitch Hansen band has twilight themed songs.. some lamnent in relation to jacob and bella. havent checked them out yet but it might be worth a try.

Answer :
Have a perusal of the new book "1000 recordings to hear before you die" - it should be good food for thought.

And, just to toss in my own suggestion - as much as I like "Drifting" ... I think the song 1945 - "It's Been a Long, Long Time encapsulates the feeling of the boys returning home from WWII better than anything.

Also, not sure if it was 1929 or not, but I am a fan of the tune "Brother Can you Spare a Dime" as a statement on the times.

Additionally, if this is a 'century' project, why keep going past 2008? and if not, then why not reach back into the 1800's as well. I am SURE there are some great Sousa tunes that can be included!

Answer :
1969-Something (The Beatles)
1996-Don't Speak (No Doubt)

Answer :
this is good but 1967 should be purple haze-jimi hendrix
also 1963 should be pride and joy-stevie ray vaughan

Answer :
You've already asked this exact question at least a dozen times, in several music forums, including at least once before in blues.

Answer :
Beats my question all to heck. So many , one is only possible in the moment. So many moments I was and am not part of. The list is missing Jim Croce. Bad Leroy Brown. Time in a Bottle, I Got a Name.
One song? Hey Jude. smokey joe's cafe. deep purple dream, voodoo child, killed by death, she's all right. Best are co conspirators. When it's right you will know it. And, everyone will disagree with you.

Answer :
Hehe you've got some awesome stuff there!
The Entertainer, I don't want to miss a thing, Creep, etc.
Don't really have any suggestions sorry I just had to comment on how much I agree with some of those songs.
